Hostage Rescue Zone

Banner

Hello and welcome to our Hostage rescue zone Tutorial.

First of all you need to create a big brush (block) with the trigger texture (tools/trigger).

Picture1

If you did that, you've to change the brush to an entity. Use the selection tool to select your trigger block. Press CTRL+T to get the object properties. Change func_detail to func_hostage_rescue.

Picture2

In the Object properites you dont have to change something. But you've to place a "Hostage rescue" texture and add hostages to your map.

Picture3

To place the texture choose the texture (decals/militiahostagerescue) and use the apply overlays tool. Place the texture under the triggerbox.

Now you've complete the hostage rescue zone. But you need some hostages as well. To place them you have to choose the entity tool and choose the entity "hostage_entity".

Picture6

Now you have to choose a place on your map where you'll place the hostages. You can place as many hostages as you want.

Picture7

But you're not finished yet. You have to change something that they will follow the player to the rescuezone. Thats a little bit difficult but easy to do.

The hostages need the entity "info_node" to have a direction on the map. You have to place this entity on every corner on your map so that the hostages cant be lost.

Picture8

The entity "info_node" should be placed that the hostage can see the other. In this example we place three info_nodes to the rescue zone.

Picture9

Now its almost done. But you have to create a navigation for the hostages ingame. Start Counter-Strike: Source and open the console and use the following commands.

sv_cheats 1 - map "yourmapname" (without "). After your map is loaded use nav_generate. This can take a while. If its done your map will restart automaticly again.

If this happened its done. You placed a Hostagerescue Zone and Hostages on your map.
