| How to start the Hammer Editor |
 Hello and welcome to our first Hammer Editor Tutorial. In this Tutorial we'll show everyone that likes to do some Maps for different Modifications of Half Life or Half Life 2 how to start Hammer Editor. Not everyone knows how to start the Hammer Editor, so we want to explain you how to do that. After you Start the Steam.exe from your Desktop or somewhere else,  you get the steam welcome screen.  On the Top of the Steam Window you have a Navigation for the different things that steam can offers you.  Click on Tools and choose Source SDK.  Double Click on it and wait for the next window that will pop up.  On this little Window you have to choose what program of SDK you would like to start. Here you will find the Hammer Editor, that we need to start later on. The Model Viewer and the Face Poser. But this will come on some of the next Tutorials. Underneth you have two things that you can change. First the Engine Version where you can choose "The Orange Box" and "Half Life 2: EP 1".  On The Orange Box Engine, we've got Half Life EP2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal.  If you choose "Half Life 2: EP 1" you can choose HL2, Counter-Strike Source, HL2 Deathmatch, Day of Defeat Source and HL2: EP1.  But we want to create a Map for HL2: EP2. If you want to do a Counter-Strike: Source33 Map or a map for another game, choose this Game and start Hammer Editor. And here we are. You started the Hammer Editor and can now select something from the Menu.  Well this is an easy way and i think we dont had to do this tutorial. But now everyone can open the Hammer Editor in Steam ;-) Hope you enjoyed it. |
