![]() Hello and welcome to our ladder tutorial (easy version). In this tutorial we'll explain to you how to build a ladder with a brush and how to build a ladder with normal blocks. First of all we need a room where we can put the ladder in and can use it as well. This can look like this.
![]() Now you've to choose the ladder texture.
![]() Click on "browse" and put "ladder" in the filter. Now you should be able to select two different ladder types. The Orange "dev" Ladder which you can normaly find on ag_texture maps and the normal ladder that you can see in our example picture. Now you've to build a block with the "block creation tool". This block should be as small as a ladder is.
![]() Press enter to apply the block. Maybe you've to displace the ladder brush in the right place. You can do this in the Textur Application Mode. ![]() This is how the ladder should be after the displace.
![]() You dont have to do the next step but if you want to it will look a little bit better ingame. ![]() You've to put a "NoDraw" brush on the sides of the ladder you did before. Choose the Textur Application Tool and select the "NoDraw" Texture by searching "nodraw" in your texture filter. You can also experiment with the NoDraw Texture. Put this texture just on the sides of the ladder or on the top etc. Everyone can do his own creation. The last step we've to do is to change func_detail into func_ladder so that you can use the ladder ingame. Choose the ladder in the 3D Window or Wireframe Window with the selection tool. And Press CTRL+T to get the object properties. ![]() Now we've the object properties. change func_detail to func_ladder and click on apply. ![]() Now we finished our brush ladder. But we'll show you how create your own ladder with blocks. First of all you've to create a ladder with the block tool. Like this: ![]() Now we need the ladder texture. Click on browse and put "ladder" in your texture filter. ![]() Now we put the ladder texture on the whole ladder. This block dont have to be bigger than one unit. ![]() The last step we've to do here is to change the orange ladder block into a func_ladder like in the Brush Ladder. Ingame it should look like this: ![]() ![]() |
