| Setup for Counter-Strike 1.6 |
First of all you need some additions. These are Zoners Half-Life Tools and textures that you can use for your CS 1.6 map. Lets start with the configuration. Here we have the "General" configuration. You dont need to change something here if you've done the first tutorial. ![]() The same is necessary to the 2D Views ![]() and the 3D Views. ![]() Now to the Gameconfigurations. Click on configuration on "Edit" and "Add". A new window will pop up. Here you have to type in "Counter-Strike". On "Game Data files" you have to order where the FGD files are. If you dont have any FGD files you can download them here: On "Game Executable Directory" you have to put in the path to your Counter-Strike folder. For example "Steam/steamapps/youracc/counter-strike". At "Mod Directory" you have to put in the path to your cstrike folder. This is: "Steam/steamapps/youracc/counter-strike/cstrike".. The next is "Game Directory" Type in the path to your valve folder. Steam/steamapps/youracc/counter-strike/valve. The RMF Directory is the folder where your maps should be saved. (this saving option will not save your .bsp (playable file) but the .rmf file, so that you can change your map again later on. ![]() Lets go to the configurations on "Build Programs". These are the settings to compile the map in the end. Choose "Counter-Strike" on configuration. And now to the important settings. On "Game executable" you have to put in the path to your Steam.exe On "CSG executable" the path to your hlcsg.exe and on "BSP executable the path to hlbsp.exe" etc. The last configuration you have to do is "Place compiled maps in this directory before running the game". Here you can choose your maps folder. For example: Steam/steamapps/youracc/counter-strike/cstrike/maps. ![]() But mapping without any textures doesnt make any sense. You need some .WAD files. If you dont have any on your computer, you have to use the program GCF Scape. This program we have explained before in a tutorial. So we can leave this for now. If you've got some WAD files on your computer that you want to use, click on the settings on "Textures" and "ADD WAD". Here you have to type in the path to your WAD files and choose one after the other. You cant even load any WAD files at the same time. Be sure that you dont have loaded mroe than five WAD files. This could cause some problems compiling the map. ![]() For now that was everything. You just have to restart your Hammer Editor and everything is ready to start mapping. Enjoy it! |
