| Weather Effects |
![]() If you got a sky in your map, sometimes it would be great to have some weather effects on your map. In this tutorial we'll explain you how to use weather effects on your map. You must have a skybox on your map. In this example we want to have rain on the map.
![]() Lets begin to create a block. This block should be as big as the room is. Drag it from the skybox to the floor. Use the texture "toolsnodraw" for this block. That should look like this.
![]() Now you have change the block to an entity. Rightclick -> tie to entity or CTRL+T will help you with that. A New window will open now. Here you have to choose "func_precipitation" and then click apply. Dont close this window.
![]() After this you have to choose what kind of weather effect you want to have. Click on precipitation type and choose snow or rain. In this example we use rain. But you need to change another setting. You have to think about how strong the rain should be. Click on density and choose a number between 0 and 100%. For this example we will use 50%. Compile the map and it is ready. ![]() To make the rain a little bit more realistic, you can add fog. Use the entity tool and look for "env_fog_controller" in the right navigation. Place this entity on a place you want to have fog.
![]() With rightclick -> properties or ALT+Return you get the properties of the entity. Here you have to change just one thing. Click on fog enable. Set the fog enable on yes.
![]() Now its done. You have some fog as well on your map.
